Your immune system has many enemies which can compromise it's ability to protect you against disease. There are more enemies affecting us today than even 50 years ago.
Chemicals: 1 billion pounds were produced in the United States in the 40's and over 400 billion pounds were produced in the 80's. Numbers have steadily increased since. We are exposed to more chemicals in one year than our grandparents were exposed to in an entire lifetime. The exposure to our children will be even greater.
Pesticides: We ingest about a pound a year. Some fruits and vegetables are sprayed 10-15 times. Most of what we eat is sprayed multiple times.
Food Additives: We ingest about 14 pounds a year.
Food Irridation: Produces bacterial mutations and lowers nutritional value.
Genetically Engineered Food: Produces new toxins.
Poor Digestion “See, Why Enzymes”
Internal and External Toxins.
Hormone Imbalances.
Poor Nutrition
Stress: A couple of thousand years ago stress might have been trying not to get eaten by a lion. Today's stress is about making the house payment or performing well on the job. Early man or woman either out ran the lion and resolved the stressful situation or the lion ate them and the stressful situation was resolved through death. Today's stress doesn't go away that easily.
According to Dr. Barry Sears M.D. stress releases corticosteriods from the adrenal glands and when its continually released it shuts down the production of prostaglandins.
Prostaglandins promote immune system functioning. So, if you're stressed out you can bring production of these hormones (like localized communicators) to a crashing halt which can then shut down the immune system.
